Islanders Bailey, Sugar wed

Carissa M. Bailey, 26, and Robert E. Sugar, 28, were joyfully united in marriage Jan. 2, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Buffalo, witnessed by close family and friends.

The Rev. Carla Kline of the Island Presbyterian Church officiated. The wedding was followed by a beautiful reception in Hotel Lafayette's Greenhouse Room with a warehouse modern feel.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Bailey and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Sugar, both of Grand Island.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Maids of honors included her sisters, Brieanna Bailey Patti and Alissa Bailey. The best man was the groom's brother-in-law, Daniel Renczkowski, and longtime friend Colin Donahoe was the groomsman. The ring bearer was Rob's 6-year-old nephew, Toby Renczkowski, and the bell ringers were toddlers Dominic and DJ Patti, twin nephews of the bride.

Carissa is the proud granddaughter of Rosemarie Netter of North Tonawanda and Carl Roesch of Amherst. She attended Grand Island High School and graduated in 2006. She graduated from Fredonia State in 2010 with a degree in music education and went on to obtain her master's degree in music education at the University at Buffalo in 2012. She is currently an elementary music teacher in Freetown, Massachusetts, for K-3 and the K-5 curriculum leader for unified arts for her school district. She also teaches private piano and voice lessons.

Rob is the proud grandson of Harold Long of Nunda and Helen Sugar, formally of Grand Island. He is a Grand Island High School 2005 graduate and a graduate from the University at Buffalo's School of Architecture and Planning in 2009. He is currently in his second year of graduate school at Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University for architecture. He works part time for Sasaki Architects of Boston. He is a former employee of the University at Buffalo in the Capital Planning Group.

The couple honeymooned at the Mount Washington Resort in New Hampshire. They reside in Providence, Rhode Island.
