Growing up, I let two large corkboards in my bedroom plan my life. From prom dresses to colleges, and far off places I would eventually travel to, all were visual displays to attain. Fast-forward a couple of decades, and these inspiration boards are now virtual - and probably similar to millions of daily users on Pinterest.

Pinterest is one of the newest social media sites that allows for the collection of visual images onto "boards." Topics vary from cooking, events, weddings, to one of the most popular subjects, planning a trip.

One of my favorite personal boards is for travel - what to pack, where to eat, what to see and how to get around. This modern itinerary-making tool allows globetrotters to build colorful trip timelines and share travel plans with loved ones.

So what's the secret to a great itinerary? We've got the answer in Niagara Falls USA.

Our iconic destination is perfect for the dreamer and traveler to seek and pin information on hotels, restaurants and things to do in the Honeymoon Capital of the World.

As February is the month of love, Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp. is hosting "A Perfect Day in Niagara USA" contest, awarding someone a romantic getaway in Niagara USA.

Now through Feb. 28, Pinterest users, or Pinners, need to follow Niagara Falls USA on Pinterest (pinterest.com/niagarafallsusa) and create an "A Perfect Day in Niagara USA" board. Then submit your entry via Facebook/niagarafallsusa to qualify.

Each board should include 10 of your favorite attractions, accommodations, sites or restaurants that depict the perfect day or "pintinerary" in Niagara County. Pinners will find lots of inspiration at niagara-usa.com. Participants will be entered to win a romantic getaway for two in Niagara USA, including their idea of a perfect day, and a $250 Visa gift card.

The winning board will be chosen on the basis of creativity, positive representation of Niagara USA and its uniqueness. One winner will be chosen and notified. For more information on how to enter the contest and official rules, visit niagara-usa.com.

The NTCC marketing and communications department is posting visual suggestions on its Pinterest account daily. Staffers look forward to welcoming the winning pinner to Niagara USA and making their creative "pintinerary" a reality.
