Two area businesses have teamed up to enlist the community's assistance to raise funds in support of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

The Lewiston Event Center and Tim Hortons will provide a "thank you" gift to each customer who donates an item for the upcoming Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Baskets O'Plenty Auction.

On Sunday, Feb. 22, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Lewiston Event Center, 845 Cayuga St., will provide a coupon for a free game of bowling to be used at a future time to anyone who makes a donation of item(s) with a $25 minimum value for the Baskets O'Plenty Auction. Items may include gift cards; event tickets, movie tickets, wine/spirits or a theme basket.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, between 10 a.m. and noon, the Tim Hortons at 8500 Niagara Falls Blvd. (in front of Ollie's), Niagara Falls, will provide a coupon for a free medium beverage to be used that day to anyone who makes a donation of item(s) with a $25 minimum value for the Baskets O'Plenty Auction.

The annual Baskets O'Plenty Auction is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at BPO Elks Lodge 346, 1805 Fashion Outlet Blvd., Town of Niagara. All proceeds from the event will benefit the more than 600 individuals with disabilities supported by OUN. For information on tickets, visit www.oppunlimited.org or call 716-297-6400, ext. 335.

Public events such as Basket O'Plenty provide a long-term source of financial support that ensures people with developmental disabilities have opportunities toward independence and integration within the community through Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara.
