The Town of Niagara distributed its $8.2 million tentative budget for 2015 Wednesday night at Town Hall. It announced a 41-cent per $1,000 of assessed valuation tax increase for homesteads, and a 55-cent per $1,000 of assessed valuation increase for non-homestead properties.

Town Clerk Sylvia Virtuoso said the new taxes reflected more "realistic numbers."

"We've gone down 12 percent over the past four years," she said. "We have to make up for some fund-balance shortages now."

Review sessions are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6; Wednesday, Oct. 8; Tuesday, Oct. 14; and Monday, Oct. 20.
