Workshop for walking to be held at Niagara Falls Public Library

"Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play," a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, will host a "Walkable, Bikeable Niagara Falls" workshop Oct. 7 at the Niagara Falls Public Library on Main Street.

The workshop will recommend some bicycle safety tips from the League of American Cyclists, give suggestions on how to securely lock your bike, share the results of a community walkability assessment, and discuss positive features and potential needs for improvement in the City of Niagara Falls.

Walking or riding a bicycle for transportation keeps one active when one would otherwise be stationary. Organizers said the majority of trips Americans take by car are less than two miles.

The event runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The first 15 participants who RSVP will receive a free bicycle lock. Contact Natalie Cook at [email protected] or 716-433-8839, ext. 243, to RSVP today.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization with programming that benefits children, families, farmers, seniors and communities across Niagara County. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County provides equal program and employment opportunities.
