Niagara County Fair: Rockwood wins Grace Herr Award

The Niagara County Fair announces the 2014 Grace Herr Award recipient is Paul Rockwood, a fulltime farmer in Lockport who enjoys volunteering his time and expertise for the fair.

Paul and his brothers, Richard and Jim Rockwood, run the Toy Tractor Pull contest at the fair. Paul is a member of the Niagara County Fair committee and assists with scheduling the entertainment. He was instrumental in having fireworks at past fairs (he used scrap metal to pay for the acts).

This year, Paul came pre-fair to help with vendor layout and fair setup. He spent many hours spreading sawdust on the roadways, putting lights on the stage, assisting with fair repairs and helping wherever needed.

Thanks to his knowledge of Cornell Cooperative Extension, Paul was a huge asset to the 2014 fair.

He and his wife, Amy, who is often by his side, have two children (Jeremy and Kristy) and five grandchildren (Elija, Aiden, Lauren, Isabelle and Josiah) who are often at the fair.
