This past week, the summer camp participants "Little Cubs, " "Big Cubs" and "S.W.A.T. Team" (Summer With Academics Too)" at St. Peter School in Lewiston enjoyed a field trip to Sanger Farm in Youngstown under the direction of teachers Jessica Lemke, Carly Lauzonis Jennifer Ricciuti and Maria Paonessa.

Sandra and Michael Tuck, owners, welcomed the campers with open arms. Their children, Rogan and Caitlyn Tuck, and Shari Posa also assisted with the festivities.

Campers had a great time painting flowerpots, planting seeds, swinging on the many swings, learning how to peel apples and how to use them to make a pie, and exploring the farm. Students took an orchard walk and saw many different kinds of apples trees, picked cherries, were treated to a pizza lunch and cookie dessert, and left with a bag full of goodies, including butter tarts, apples, gluten-free chips and, of course, even more cookies, all sold at the local farm.

The trip was a huge success. Paonessa, one of the camp's teachers, said, "It was the best farm field trip I have ever been on."

The teachers at St. Peter School now see a new destination for their fall field trip, as the team at Sanger Farms was more than generous and accommodating.
