On May 6, at a meeting of the Niagara County Legislature in Lockport, the Youngstown Business and Professional Association was awarded a grant of $2,225 from the William G. Mayne Jr. Business/Community Enhancement Program. This program is funded by the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission and administered by the Niagara County Center for Economic Development.

YPBA President Cheryl Butera said the funds will be used for the 2014-15 "Welcome to Youngstown" brochures, and to furnish the hanging flower baskets and curbside planters that line both Main and Lockport streets in the village up to the Youngstown Red Brick Village Center.

YBPA plans to reface the wooden "Welcome to Youngstown" signs in the village. And during the holidays, YBPA will add LED snowflakes to match those on Main Street continuing down Lockport Street to the village offices, to better enhance Lockport Street businesses.

The grant is being matched with funds from the Village of Youngstown, as the YBPA works with the village in showcasing the community.

Butera is shown accepting the award from First District Niagara County Legislator Clyde Burmaster.
