Lew-Port voters approve $41.2 million spending plan

With just over 1,300 voters coming out to cast their ballot, the Lewiston Porter School District $41.2 million spending plan was passed. The vote, unofficial and without absentee votes counted, was 926 in favor, and 439 against.

In Proposition II, the voters approved the acquisition of a delivery truck and related equipment not to exceed $40,000 with 857 affirmative and 475 negative votes cast.

Re-elected to another board term was Keith Fox.

Lance Dickinson was elected to serve his first term on the Board of Education. In remarks following the vote, Dickinson offered his thanks to district voters.

"I would like to thank the citizens of Lewiston and Porter for electing me to the Board of Education," said Dickinson. "I look forward to working with the administration, teachers, parents, and community to provide the students of the Lewiston-Porter School District with the best education possible within the allotted budget. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the community, and by working together we will be able to meet the fiscal challenges and continue to provide a world-class education."

The next regular meeting of the Lew-Port BOE will be Tuesday, May 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Resource Center.
