Edward Town students 'all ears' for art contest

Sixth-graders at Niagara-Wheatfield's Edward Town Middle School are tapping into their creativity to show they are "all ears" when it comes to art education. The students under the tutelage of art teachers Jill Hessinger and Karen Culligan participated in the Triarco Art Supply competition "Are You HEARING About the Importance of Arts in Education?"

The students used all kinds of inspiration from different art movements they had learned about in class. Students used watercolor, acrylic, tempera, colored pencils, colored markers, oil pastels, chalk pastels, collage, pen and ink, charcoal and lead pencil to design their "ear" for submission.

"This is a great opportunity for students to not only showcase their talents, but to win art materials and Triarco gift cards for their art class," said Culligan.
