Youngstown's Veterans of Foreign Wars Lake Ontario Post 313 held its annual Christmas Party this week. Among the activities was a toy drive spearheaded by Gary and Lynn Zanardi to benefit the children of local veterans who are served by Western New York Heroes.

Toy collection boxes were placed in local Youngstown businesses, including Victoria's Hair Care, Ashker's Coffee Shop, Melloni's Market and the new Dory Trading Post. Dozens of toys were collected at the locations, as well as from VFW members. In addition, a generous donation was received from the Youngstown Lions Club in support of the toy drive.

The toy drive was coordinated with Elaine Jarzynka of Western New York Heroes in Williamsville.
