Michael Gentile has been elected president of the Lewiston-Porter Board of Education for the coming year. Serving as vice president will be outgoing president Jodee Riordan.

Riordan, along with Betty Warrick and Anna Wright, took their oaths of office at the board's reorganizational meeting on Tuesday (July 2). Warrick and Wright fill the positions vacated by Dr. Jerome Andres and James Sperduti.

Sperduti was recognized for his six years on the board.

"Jim was the quiet and reasonable voice on the board," said Lewiston-Porter Superintendent Christopher Roser. "He was a quiet leader who always put the kids and the best interest of the school first."

"It was an enjoyable six years, " said Sperduti. "I'll still be around."

Following the ceremonial portion of the meeting, the board approved routine business procedures for the upcoming school year.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, July 23, a week later than the normal third Tuesday of the month.
