Town of Lewiston Supervisor Steve Reiter, second from left, presented a $16,000 check to Linda Jackson, curator of the Sanborn-Lewiston Farm Museum of the Sanborn Area Historical Society, at the society's Nov. 27 election meeting. Looking on are Bill Read, left, vice president of the society, and Town Councilman Mike Marra.

The money provided by the Town Board is to cover the shortfall for the Historical Society to complete its new museum building. The building was initially funded in July 2010 by a $260,000 grant from the Town of Lewiston using Greenway monies made available though the relicensing agreement with the New York Power Authority. The new 5,000-square-foot building with 10-foot-by-100-foot side porches includes a 50-foot-by-70-foot museum hall and the amenities of a kitchen and the much-needed handicap compliant restrooms.

Officers elected for 2013 were Gary Townsend, president; Bill Read, vice president; Gerry Treichler, secretary; and Glenn Wienke, treasurer. Trustees elected to the 15-member board for a three-year term were Claudia Beane, Paul Beecher, Bob Deull, Hilda Snyder and Treichler. (photo by Gerald E. Treichler)
