Gone fishing

Participants caught and released 341 fish at the Town of Niagara annual Kids Fishing Derby on July 14 at Veterans Memorial Park.

Awards were presented by Town of Niagara Supervisor Steven Richards and Nick Dolyk, plant manger for Lafarge Corp. Lafarge sponsored the event, helping stock the pond with 500 pounds of fish and providing funds for prizes and food. A-1 Bait donated the bait for the derby.

Top award winners were:

7-and-under age group - Athan Bailor, 18 fish; Amber Bolam, 13 fish; Landon Staszczyk, 11 fish.

8-11 age group - Aubrey Bailor, 27 fish; Alexis Hawk, 19 fish; Ashley Bailor, 14 fish.

9-12 age group - Olivia Hailey, 18 fish; Hunter Bolam, 16 fish; Ross Eracitano, 13 fish.
