The annual Lewiston Christmas Walk, hosted by the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, will take place in the Village of Lewiston on Saturday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 4.

One of the highlights of the Christmas Walk is the arrival of Santa by helicopter (sponsored by Rainbow Air) on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m. in Academy Park (weather permitting).

The holiday event has grown into a popular weekend the community and retailers look forward to every year. Some of the activities include open house receptions and special sales at village businesses. Send your letters to Santa at the "North Pole mailbox," and take part in free horse and carriage rides, a petting zoo on Saturday, visits with Santa and friends, entertainment and more, all alongside the Tour of Homes (ticketed event).

The weekend will also feature the new outdoor ice skating rink, which is opening on Thursday, Dec. 1, also at Academy Park. Skating is free, and there is a nominal charge for skate rental.

The main sponsors of the Christmas Walk include: First Niagara Bank, Kiwanis Club of Lewiston, Lewiston Village Pub & Restaurant, Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center, Niagara Gazette, Niagara University, Rainbow Air Inc., Sevenson Environmental Services Inc., Smokin Joes Trading Post and Tedesco Construction Services.
