Obit -- Yolanda Grande

Yolanda (Cuppari) Grande, 88, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y., died on Saturday Nov. 12, at Mount Vernon Rehabilitation and Patient Center in Alexandria, Va.. Born in Cairo, Egypt, she was the daughter of the late Bruno and Angela (Micceri) Cuppari.

Grande was raised and educated in Cairo. She immigrated to the United States in 1967 with her husband and children and settled in Niagara Falls, where she lived until moving to Virginia five years ago. During her time in Niagara Falls, she was employed at the former Niagara Sample Book Co. as a drapery maker at the former Homemakers on Main Street and in the Housekeeping Department of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center until her retirement in 1988. Grande was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and spent a considerable amount of time caring for them on Grand Island.

Mrs. Grande was predeceased by her husband Rosario Grande on Feb. 13, 1993. She is survived by three sons, Luigi (Diane) Grande, Bruno (JoAnn) Grande both of Herndon, Va., and Angelo (Cathy) Grande of Grand Island; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosina (Orlando) Fallone of Rome, Italy, and Malfalda Loschiavo of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister and brothers, Giuseppina (late Vittorio) Micceri, Annibale Cuppari and Vittorio Cuppari.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
