Obit -- Estelle Barbalato

Estelle Barbalato passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. She was 75.

Estelle was born July 13, 1936, in Buffalo and attended Grover Cleveland High School, graduating in 1954. She was the vice president of her graduating class and served on the alumni committee.

She was secretary for the Buffalo Board of Education from 1990 to 2000; and for Dr. Thomas Cumbo from 1977 to 1987. She retired in 2000

Barbalato enjoyed china painting, playing the piano and entertaining guests at her home. She loved cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Barbalato Sr., with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosemarie Stansfield and Lisa Canavan; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Barbalato; and her sister, Sharon Partyka. She was predeceased by her son, Ralph Barbalato Jr., and her brother, Samuel Mancuso.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday at the Amigone Funeral Home in Amherst, followed by a Mass of Christian burial from St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial is at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga.
