Grand Island resident Donna Anderson Walker entered into rest on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010.

Walker's gift was reaching out to others and making everyone feel welcome. She was hostess at the Grand Island Senior Center, where she loved to spend time with her friends. She was a proud volunteer for the American Red Cross and enjoyed visiting nursing homes and sending cards to shut-ins.

Walker was a well-known face in Grand Island schools, as she loved to help out and attend school functions.

As a lifelong member of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, she was actively involved in all aspects of perish life. She enjoyed her volunteer work at AIDS Community Services (especially holiday gift-wrap). Walker was named their volunteer of the year in 2007.

Donna was the dearest mother of Michael (Debbie) Walker, Beth (Eric) Boron and the late Thomas H. Walker Jr.; the loving grandmother of Hilary and Katelyn Walker, Steven, Michael and Tara Walker, and Andrew, Caroline and Allison Boron; and the daughter of the late Emil and Mae Anderson.

Visitation was held Wednesday and Thursday at the Kaiser Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 2587 Baseline Road.

Memorials may be made to St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.
