Ransomville headlines in Ransomville

The Ransomville "Free Concerts in the Country" 2010 series kicks off on Thursday, June 17, with a band with the same name as the Town of Porter hamlet Ransomville.

For a band that emerged only a year and a half ago, Ransomville is carving its own path to country music stardom through guitar driven hooks, soulful lyrics, a magnetic stage presence and loyal fans.

Guitarist/songwriters John Rosini and Rob Burgio have proven their song writing ability and reached enormous musical success. Three of their songs broke the top 10, on the top 40 charts (P1 station WKSE, Kiss 98.5). 

Lead singer Dan McClurg, bassist Josh Long and drummer Johnny Misso complete the group. The band they just finished writing and recording songs in Nashville, Tenn., for a debut EP.

The nine-week free "Free Concerts in the Country" series takes place at the William J.  McLaughlin Free Library Gazebo, 3733 Ransomville Road, every Thursday at 7 p.m. through Aug. 12.

Additional bands in the Ransomville Free Concert line up include:  June 24 - Penelope (classic rock), July 1 - Lakeside Blues Band (classic blues and rock), July 8 - Street Dance (on Academy Street) with Electric Rodeo (classic country and rock), July 15 - The Roadrunners (good time oldies), July 22 - The Lake Effect (accapella men's group), July 29 - CRS Band (‘60s and '70s music), Aug. 5 - Switchback (best of '50s and '60s), and Aug. 12 - Then and Now (classic rock). 

The Ransomville Free Concert Series is hosted by the Ransomville Business & Professional Association, Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by the Town of Porter and Waste Management/CWM Chemical Services.

Upstate New York Transplant Services will be on site at the concert on July 8 and Aug. 12 with opportunities to donate blood.
