Eta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Eastern Region will host the Gloria Chapmon Walk-A-Thon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, 310 Fourth St., Niagara Falls.

A press release stated, “The purpose of the Gloria Chapmon Walk-A-Thon is to bring awareness and provide support for the intellectually and developmentally disabled.”

The walk is an in-person event that is organized by Eta Phi Beta Sorority in collaboration with The Arc Erie County New York. It is one of Eta Phi Beta’s signature events and is open to the public, therefore all are welcome to participate in the walk by gathering sponsors.

Organizers said, “Our goal is to raise $3,500, and all funds will be donated to The Arc Erie County New York.”

The walk-a-thon route will go from Seneca Niagara to Niagara Falls State Park, and return to the hotel. Participants can be both sponsored for an amount per lap and can name a maximum amount that a person is willing to contribute.

Chapmon was a dedicated past grand national president of Eta Phi Beta Sorority (1978-82). The walk-a-thon is named in her memory.

This will be the Eastern Region’s first year as host. For more information, email [email protected] or visit https://www.facebook.com/thearceriecounty and https://www.instagram.com/thearceriecounty/.
