Gov. Andrew Cuomo is allowing shopping malls in “New York Forward” phase four regions to reopen to the general public.

Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls is among those malls.

A press release said, “Opening the retail destination’s doors for shoppers signals a welcome new phase in how our community is set to rebound after several weeks of government-mandated shutdown.

“The center’s reopening plans include compliance with New York state guidelines including upgraded air filters throughout our center’s air conditioning system. We have also significantly enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols, with a focus on frequent touchpoints, to make sure guests and employees feel comfortable and at ease with the return to business. Added signage and other safeguards will be in place to assure continued, appropriate social distancing and other precautionary measures.”

John Doran, property manager at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, said, “We are looking forward to seeing our retail partners and welcoming local shoppers back to Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls. More than ever, people are ready to safely get back to the places and activities they’ve been missing and we are excited to be a big part of this. All of us are committed to ensuring our property can get back to making major contributions to our local economy through jobs, sales taxes and more.”

As not all stores and restaurants will be open as of July 10, patrons are invited visit the Fashion Outlets website for full information and list of retail and restaurants that are open, in accordance with government orders (and other measures the mall has taken).

Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, at 1900 Military Road, Niagara Falls.

On Wednesday, Cuomo announced malls could open in regions that have entered phase four of reopening if they have implemented an enhanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning – or HVAC – filtration system and follow proper ventilation protocols.

HVAC systems will be required to include filters with a minimum efficiency reporting value – or MERV – rating of which filters out the COVID-19 virus, but can, if the system makes additional protections, run on a minimum MERV of 11. Ventilation protocols include increased outdoor air, reduced air circulation, longer system run times and frequent filter checks.
