The Erie Community College Board of Trustees announced the immediate search for Erie Community College’s 12th president, which is expected to result in a candidate selection by the end of 2020. The co-chairs for the search will be SUNY Erie Board Chair Leonard Lenihan and SUNY Erie Vice Chair Danise Wilson. A website has been established for the search: www.ecc.edu/Presidential-Search.

The board established a leadership transition with the approval of the SUNY Erie Board appointment of William D. Reuter as interim president for the campus. His role is effective July 1, following the previously announced departure of President Dan Hocoy.

Reuter previously served as SUNY Erie’s chief administrative and finance officer from 1998-2017 and held the role of interim president at the college from 2006-08. He has held the position of chief administrative and finance officer at Hudson Valley Community College since 2017.

“SUNY Erie is pleased to welcome Bill back to the College to serve in the role of interim president,” Lenihan said. “Bill’s extensive knowledge of the SUNY system and the college makes him precisely the right person to lead SUNY Erie at this transitional point in our history. The board and I are looking forward to working with him as we recover from this unprecedented time and pave the way for our next president.

Reuter had also previously served as chief financial officer and treasurer at the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, deputy comptroller in the Erie County Comptroller’s Office, and as a management consultant in the Erie County Budget Office.

Hocoy previously announced his departure for a position at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City.
