Republican New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs is claiming victory in the special election to fill the seat vacated by former Congressman Chris Collins. Late Tuesday, Jacobs claimed to have an insurmountable lead over Democrat and former Town of Grand Island Supervisor Nate McMurray. Currently, his lead is more than 30,000 votes for the NY-27 seat.

In the primary race, Jacobs also won the Republican line for November’s election, defeating Beth Parlato and Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw.

In Niagara County, District Attorney Caroline Wojtaszek took the Democrat and Independence lines for county court judge. She also is narrowly ahead of Michael Benedict for the GOP line (less than 100 votes). He is winning the Conservative and Working Family lines.

Brian Seaman appears to have won the race for DA, with an almost 13% lead on John Ceretto II.

Acting Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti took the Democrat line, besting fellow NCSO officer Brian Grear by more than 2,500 votes.

All results are unofficial until outstanding ballots are counted and each tally is certified by the respective Western New York boards of election.
