Coronavirus stats for May 21

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report the death of two Niagara County residents. We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.”

The deceased include two 83-year-old males, both with underlying health conditions.

The rest of the update is as follows:

  • 3 new positive cases, for a total of 921 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 268 active cases (254 isolating at home, 14 in a hospital)
  • 594 recovered
  • 59 deaths

Erie County

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Erie County had a total of 5,054 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 55 on Grand Island and 2,082 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 32,873 people have been tested (15.4% positive), with 455 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 27,161 people have taken an antibody test (7.6% positive).
