Great Lakes Dental Technologies is using new manufacturing technology to produce face shields, personal protective equipment essential to front-line health-care workers. Shields were recently donated to the McGuire Group, which operates multiple skilled nursing facilities throughout Western New York.
“As the McGuire Group continues to care for the most at-risk members of our community, we are happy to provide protective gear for the McGuire staff, the men and women who are courageously putting themselves on the front line every day,” said Jim Kunkemoeller, Great Lakes president and CEO.
Great Lakes manufactures plastic materials used in the fabrication of custom dental and orthodontic appliances.
“We were able to modify our manufacturing process to accommodate the design and creation of the face shields,” explained Kunkemoeller.
The shields, made of medical-grade nylon sintered material, are both durable and reusable, when disinfected properly.
