NOCO announces creation of sustainability division within commercial & residential HVAC business

NOCO Energy recently announced the creation of a sustainability division within its commercial and residential heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) business based in Akron. The new division will focus on working with customers in the installation of energy efficiency heating and cooling units and equipment, energy efficiency consulting, LED lighting and other measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“As we announced last year with the sale of our retail and terminal operations, the creation of a sustainability division within our HVAC business continues our transition into other areas to grow our business, including renewable energies, and energy efficiency programs and services,” said NOCO President James D. Newman. “New York state has extremely ambitious climate goals and an area where we are focusing on is helping residential and commercial customers reduce emissions in their homes and businesses, which significantly contribute to climate change.”

In announcing the new division, NOCO also announced the hiring of Thomas Wrate as general manager of HVAC and sustainability. Wrate has over 25 years of management and sales experience, including 11 years as owner of Wrate Mechanical Services in Sanborn. Wrate graduated from Lockport High School and currently resides in the Town of Cambria.

Wrate is a licensed master electrician and a certified service technician. He was most recently a project manager with DV Brown & Associates Inc., a full-service mechanical contracting company, specializing in HVAC, refrigeration and plumbing, among many other services.

“I am very excited about this opportunity as NOCO has been an integral part of the Western New York community for 85 years and its customers are very loyal,” Wrate said. “I think they will respond very favorably to the products and services we will be offering to make their homes and businesses as energy efficient as possible and in doing so reducing their carbon footprint.”

Serving the Western New York community for more than 85 years, family owned and locally operated NOCO is headquartered in Tonawanda. NOCO is committed to meeting the energy needs of its residential and commercial customers. NOCO offers a full line of products and services, including natural gas, electricity, propane, heating oil, HVAC sales and service, and commercial fuels.
