With spring right around the corner, organizers are preparing for the 15th annual Lewiston GardenFest, set for Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, and presented by Lewiston Garden Club. Applications are now being accepted for both vendors and Lewiston residents who may be interested in showcasing their own gardens during the weekend event.

“For 15 years, the Lewiston Garden Club has been bringing vendors, education and fresh ideas to gardeners of all skill levels at Lewiston GardenFest,” said Judy Talarico, chair of Lewiston GardenFest. “This year’s theme, ‘Bee Power, Our Friends in the Garden,’ highlights the importance of bees, butterflies and other pollinators to our gardens and ecosystem. Without pollinators, we wouldn’t have the beautiful gardens throughout the historic village to showcase.”

Businesses and vendors who sell items related to gardening, horticulture and the outdoors, including nurseries, landscapers, garden artists and builders, are encouraged to apply. Vendor applications are due by May 1 and can be downloaded now at lewistongardenfest.com. The application fee varies from $125 to $250 based on the size of the vendor display.

Call 716-864-8092 with vendor-related questions.

Village and Town of Lewiston residents who are interested in showcasing their own gardens are encouraged to be part of the festival’s open gardens. Festival attendees can view the participating gardens only when the “Open Garden” signs are in place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the event weekend. For more information or to download an application, visit lewistongardenfest.com. The deadline to apply for open gardens is May 15.

Located along Center Street, Lewiston GardenFest is free to attend and includes vendors, speakers demonstrating new and different techniques to enhance one’s gardens, and master gardeners on hand to answer questions throughout the weekend. In addition to free open gardens, both adults and children can also participate in a container garden contest for prizes.

Proceeds from Lewiston GardenFest go back into the soil of the local community for civic beautification efforts and scholarships.
