Niagara County Legislator Anthony Nemi recently joined Pendleton officials at West Canal Park to announce the completion of a new playground. The site includes modern play equipment and, fittingly, incorporates a blue and yellow boat theme as the play area sits beside the Erie Canal.

The completion of the playground is part of a series of improvements to all Niagara County parks. The project’s success is a result of the efforts of Niagara County Department of Public Works under the direction of Niagara County Legislature, including Nemi, who represents Pendleton and parts of Lockport. In addition, a state SAMS Grant was awarded through the efforts of Sen. Rob Ortt, providing essential funding to the countywide parkland project that comprises West Canal, Krull, Oppenheim, Bond Lake, and Royalton Ravine parks.

“I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of the Niagara County DPW Commissioner Garret Meal, his staff, and Sen. Rob Ortt for their help in creating an up-to-date play area for our residents to enjoy with their family and friends,” said Nemi, R-Pendleton. “I’m proud to say that West Canal Park continues to improve with the installation of high-quality equipment and facilities.”
