Day 3 at 180th Erie County Fair

Here is what you need to know for day three of the Erie County Fair in Hamburg:

•It’s Firefighters Day today:

  • Free admission for firefighters and auxiliary members, with proper ID
  • Fire prevention with Glenn Sickles at noon 3 and 6 p.m. inside the Firemen’s Building
  • Firefighters memorial service at 3 p.m. in the Firemen’s Building
  • Firefighters parade at 6:30 p.m. in the GUSTO Grandstand (free event) 

Live in the GUSTO Grandstand

•The PettyBreakers (Tom Petty Tribute) will take stage at 8:30 p.m.

The PettyBreakers are a premier Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute act. Based out of Southern California, this band is comprised of veteran musicians with decades of experience performing in tribute acts, recording and performing with international bands.

This show is free with paid gate admission. No grandstand ticket is required for entry to this show. 

Deals & Discounts

•Student Special: Students ages 13-22 receive $7 admission after 5 p.m., with proper ID.

•Early-Morning Discount: $7 admission for guests arriving before 11 a.m. on any weekday. Tickets purchased before 11 a.m. must be redeemed before 11 a.m.

•One-Price Ride Day: Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $30 on the Strates midway. Guests who pre-purchased their ride vouchers at Tops may redeem them at the Strates ticket booth at the top of the Avenue of Flags.

Special Events

•USPS Commemorative Postal Cancellation: The U.S. Post Office is featuring the State and County Fair Forever Stamps. A set of four stamps, which celebrate the fun of America’s state and country fairs, come together to depict a panorama of essential fair activities.

The USPS will be on site selling these stamps as well as cancelling mail using a special Erie County Fair postmark. Guests can bring their own mail, or receive a complimentary postcard (while supplies last).

•Erie County Fair All-Ages Talent Show: Community members will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the Fair. Participants have just three minutes for their routine. The winner of the show will continue on to Syracuse to compete in the New York State Fair. The show takes place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. on the Tops Avenue of Flags Stage.

•Skylighters Fireworks presented by Channel 2: Skylighters Fireworks will light the night sky to celebrate the 180th Erie County Fair. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.

•Daily Flag Retreat Ceremony: During the ceremony, the American flag that was flown during that day will be lowered and presented to a veteran and/or active military member of the military. That person will be the “Flag Retreat Honoree of the Day.”

This ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. in Slade Park.

•New Food Showdown: Vendors were challenged to create the best new food of the fair. Of all the submissions, the field was narrowed down to the top 20 challengers. These foods can be found on the fairgrounds app (in the food section). Fairgoers are encouraged to try the new foods and vote for their favorite through Aug. 14.
