Approximately 20 members of the Lewiston Garden Club broke out their shovels, spades, pots, planters, and green thumbs on Monday for their annual planting day throughout the Village of Lewiston.

Crews worked at Hennepin Park, outside of the Lewiston Historical Museum, and in front of the Lewiston Public Library. Gardens were spruced up, weeds pulled, and hundreds of flowers planted by the all-volunteer group. Members will continue to water and maintain these plantings through the end of the summer.

The Lewiston Garden Club’s 14th annual GardenFest will take place the weekend of June 15-16. Proceeds from the event are planted back into the village.

In fact, 2018’s profits went toward new bench bases, flowers and an island at Hennepin Park; all-new landscaping at the Historical Association of Lewiston museum; and touch-up work and plantings at the Seneca Bug Park at the library.
