Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announced Family Medicine physician John G. Dyster, M.D., will join the medical staff and will become the medical director of Memorial's Lewiston Primary Care Center.

Dyster is well-known across Niagara County, having practiced here since 1987. His most recent post was as program director of the osteopathic family medicine residency program at Eastern Niagara Hospital.

Also joining the practice will be two of his current second-year residents, who will continue to practice under his guidance at Lewiston Primary Care.

In making the announcement, Memorial President and CEO Joseph Ruffolo said, "We are honored to have Dr. Dyster join our Primary Care physician team. A tenured and distinguished practitioner such as Dr. Dyster not only adds strength to our growing Primary Care practice, but his stellar reputation for excellence serves to elevate the quality of patient care that Memorial brings to the Niagara Region. "

In a sense, Dyster is coming full circle in his career, having served as an assistant director in the NFMMC family medicine residency while in private practice at Niagara Family Medicine earlier in his career. He also served as a hospitalist at NFMMC, Mount St. Mary's, DeGraff Memorial, Millard Fillmore Suburban, Eastern Niagara Hospital and St. Helena NAPA hospitals.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Niagara University, Dyster obtained his M.D. degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine.
