Free gardening seminar at NCCC

As part of the ongoing Faculty Keynote Series, Niagara County Community College will be presenting a lecture, “Garden Myth Busting: How to Weed Through the Internet” with Assistant Professor Carolyn Stanko. 

The event will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 29 in room E-140 on the NCCC Sanborn campus, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road.  This presentation will provide details on science-based, environmentally friendly best practices for home gardeners. Stanko will dispel myths found on social media and other gardening websites, and will answer questions from the public.    

Stanko is a senior New York state certified nursery and landscape professional. She has a Bachelor of Science in plant sciences with an emphasis in ornamental horticulture from the University of Arizona and holds a Master of Science in horticulture focusing on agribusiness management and marketing from Michigan State University. 

Stanko brings her years of industry experience to the college classroom where she is currently the coordinator of the horticulture program. She has been teaching horticulture and biology for 12 years. She was recently named PlantWNY’s Person of Year for raising the standards of horticulture education in WNY through her profession and as a CNLP advocate.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged for all, but walk-ins are welcome.
