Interested in the art of woodcarving? Head to the Castellani Art Museum between 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, to celebrate the opening of a new traditional art exhibit: “Born from Wood: The Niagara Frontier Wood Carvers.”
Curated by Niagara University students, the exhibit features the woodcarvings and woodburnings of 13 members of the Niagara Frontier Wood Carvers club, currently based out of the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda. “Born from Wood” provides an introduction into the tools, techniques, meanings and materials found in woodcarving and woodburning: from caricatures and relief carvings to figurative sculptures and “unburned” artworks.
Light refreshments and remarks will be provided at this free event. For more information, call the Castellani Art Museum at 716-286-8200.
