Wheatfield promotes autism and special needs awareness

In February 2018, the Town of Wheatfield adopted the New York state “ThinkDIFFERENTLY” initiative to assist individuals and businesses communicate with, provide for, and support individuals living on the autism spectrum and those with special needs. 

The 12th annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2. 

The public is welcome to come to the Community/Senior Center at 2790 Church Road from noon to 2 p.m. on March 30 to meet with representatives from four different agencies in Niagara County (Autism Services Inc., Development Disabilities Alliance of WNY, People Inc. and Intandem – formerly Opportunities Unlimited) that offer services to individuals with special needs. 

The public is also encouraged to get a free blue light bulb for your front porch to show support of autism awareness. 

Join the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world, by “lighting up blue” in recognition of people living with autism.

Join those in support of those dealing with the challenges of autism and developmental disabilities.
