A longtime fixture on the local media relations scene has joined Medaille College as the Buffalo school’s new director of communications.

Christian W. Peck, who served as public information officer and chief spokesperson for Niagara County’s government for the past decade, took on the newly created role at the 2,200-student college. He will become the primary contact for local non-sports media effective immediately.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of the Medaille community and to help this institution communicate its message to the press and the public,” Peck said. “I look forward to continuing to work with friends and colleagues in Western New York’s media, as well as enhance Medaille College’s outreach and engagement efforts.”

The communications office is part of Medaille’s office of college relations.

John Crawford, vice president of college relations, welcomed Peck to Medaille.

“We’re glad to have Christian and his experience joining an already strong college relations team,” Crawford said. “Medaille is Buffalo’s ‘College of Opportunity,’ and we will be doing more to communicate what that means for local traditional and nontraditional students, and for this institution. That includes engaging more with our local media as opportunities arise.”
