Leadership Niagara announces 2019 honorees

Leadership Niagara’s 29th annual awards luncheon will bring regional leaders together May 17 at the DoubleTree by Hilton to honor six individuals and organizations who exemplify the organization’s mission and core values while working toward strengthening the community. Awardees include:

  • Kenneth Sass, LN ’97, Pinnacle Community Services (Ret.), Lifetime Achievement
  • The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., Niagara University, Leader of the Year
  • Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club, Organization of the Year
  • Bonnie Kane, Ph.D., LN ’17, Niagara Falls City School District, Distinguished Alumni
  • Alicia Laible-Kenyon, Elderwood Health Plan (Niagara Advantage), Emerging Leader
  • Ethan Menges, LYNC ’19, Lockport High School, Youth Leader

“We would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals that submitted nominations for the 2019 Leader of the Year Awards; the submissions were highly competitive and exceptional this year," said Leadership Niagara President and CEO Liz Zulawski. "The level of leadership in the Niagara Community continues to grow, making the challenge to select the winner in each category greater every year. Congratulations to this year’s honorees who are being recognized for outstanding leadership, distinguished contributions and dedication to improving the quality of life in our community.”

Leadership Niagara, now in its 35th year, is the longest-running community leadership program in New York. It provides practical and in-depth graduate-level leadership development, coaching and mentoring, and discussions on regional issues and industries. The organization’s mission is to strengthen regional leadership. More than 1,900 youth and adults have graduated from Leadership Niagara since 1984.
