It looks like spring might finally make an appearance, but travelers across the region are still looking for warmer temperatures this spring break season! Now through Easter is peak time for spring break travel, so travelers should be prepared for crowds and give themselves plenty of time on the roads and in the airports.

The top destinations for Western and Central New York travelers through April 27 are:

  • Orlando (Disney)
  • Caribbean cruise
  • Punta Cana (Dominican Republic)
  • Jamaica
  • Mexico
  • European cruise
  • Aruba
  • California
  • Las Vegas
  • Hawaii

Popular driving destinations include Myrtle Beach and Charleston, South Carolina. Gas prices have increased due to higher demand, but that is not deterring travelers from taking much-needed getaways. Travel consultants are even starting to see travelers plan summer vacations! In addition to the popular destinations above, travelers will be headed to the national parks and out west this summer.

For those flying to destinations, always be mindful of TSA regulations when flying to make your travel experience as smooth as possible. Arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure and check flight status with airlines ahead of time. Limit jewelry and liquids and have travel documents easily accessible at security.

Before setting out on a vacation, travelers can contact their local AAA office for the expert advice of a trusted travel adviser. Travelers can also download the free AAA mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The app can be used to map a route, find the lowest gas prices, access exclusive member discounts, find more than 59,000 AAA Approved and Diamond Rated hotels and restaurants, and request roadside assistance.
