Community Action Organization of WNY to launch '100 Actions' campaign

President and CEO of the Community Action Organization of Western New York L. Nathan Hare announced a new campaign called “100 Actions,” which launches today, leading up to the 54th anniversary and awards breakfast.

“100 Actions” will focus on sharing what Community Action Organization of Western New York (CAO) has done to fight poverty.

Hare was recently listed in the Power 250, Buffalo Business First's annual list of the most influential people in Western New York and wants the entire region to become aware of the initiatives CAO manages.

“CAO is meeting a tremendous need in the community, so the idea is to engage the region by informing them how CAO is fighting poverty one action at a time,” Hare said. “We will share an action CAO has taken each day, for 100 days, that has a direct impact on the state of the region.”

CAO’s programs are strategic in fighting poverty through a five-pronged approach: community health, economic empowerment, educational advancement, neighborhood revitalization and workforce development.

“There are so many more people who need our help, but we need the entire region to understand what we actually do,” Hare said. “By tying communities together, we are building community strength that will help create a brighter future.”

The “100 Actions” are now live at 100actions.org. And as a countdown to CAO’s 54th anniversary and awards luncheon, CAO will release one action at a time across social media to inspire the community to learn, become engaged, and give back.

The Community Action Organization in Erie County Inc. was designated in 1965 as the official anti-poverty agency for the country, with a mission to serve the unmet needs of the low-income population.
