During the time of year when children start thinking about what they want for Christmas, pre-K students at St. Peter's R.C. School learned giving can be fun, too. Students in Mrs. Shanks's pre-K 3 and Mrs. Ryan's pre-K 4 classes created a giving tree to raise money for Niagara Hospice.
Thirty-five students participated by selling "leaves" for the tree for $1 each. The leaves were hung on the tree that is displayed at the school. The students donated the $240 they raised to Niagara Hospice. The classes also created ornaments for the Niagara Hospice Christmas tree displayed at the New York Power Authority Festival of Trees.
Since 1988, Niagara Hospice has provided end-of-life comfort, care and support to more than 25,000 Niagara County individuals and families faced with terminal illnesses. For more information, visit www.NiagaraHospice.org or call 716-439-4417.
