Grand Island Veterans Day services

The Town of Grand Island Veterans Day Services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Park Memorial Wall on Sunday, Nov. 11, the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
The ceremony will include:
•A military service flag presentation and an introduction of the color guard by Boy Scout Troop 630, Boy Scout Troop 510, and Girl Scouts of Grand Island.
•An invocation led by American Legion Grand Island Post 1346 Chaplain Joseph Mesmer.
•The pledge of allegiance to the flag led by Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9249 Commander Daniel McMahon.
•Town Supervisor Nathan McMurray offering words of welcome.
•The Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps playing a musical interlude.
•Silent prayer and the presentation of the wreath at the Memorial Wall conducted by the commanders of the Island's two veterans organizations, Dan McMahon of DeGlopper VFW Post No. 9249, and Ray DeGlopper of American Legion Grand Island Post 1346.
•The Honor Guard of DeGlopper VFW Post No. 9249 offering a rifle salute.
•Grand Island High School Wind Ensemble trumpeters Ian Cioppa and Patrick Loss playing "Taps."
•A benediction led by DeGlopper VFW Post No. 9249 Chaplain Herminio Cruz
Following the ceremony, an open house at the Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post No. 9249, 2121 Grand Island Blvd., will take place.
