Shawnee Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club host 20th Snowmobile Show

On Sept. 22, the Shawnee Sno-Chiefs Snowmobile Club will host its 20th annual Snowmobile Grass Drags/ATV Races/Vintage Snowmobile Show.
Gates open at 8 a.m., with sled testing and tuning from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and racing at noon at the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company, 3747 Lockport Road.
Cost of admission is $5 general admission, $5 for pit access, $30 for sled racers per class and $20 for ATV racers per rider.
On hand, snowmobiles will race on grass exceeding speeds of 100 mph. The races will take place on a four-lane, 500 foot track, with professional racing lights, computer timing and time slips. Also, there will be ATV/motorcycle outlaw and bracket racing all day, as well as the People's Choice Vintage Snowmobile Show.
In grass drag racing, ISR racing classes will pay cash prizes ($100 seeded, plus $10 per sled per class paid out at 50 percent/30 percent/15 percent); amateur classes pay $30 for first, $20 for second and $10 for third; mini-class for children is no charge and all kids will receive a trophy.
ATV Outlaw and Bracket racing will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and there will be vendor displays in attendance. Food and beverages will be sold on site. No coolers or grills are allowed on site.
