On Friday morning, Synergy Nutrition & Wellness Owner Jimmy Scaringi formally cut the ribbon to his facility at 3376 Niagara Falls Blvd in Wheatfield.
Scaringi and Synergy Nutrition & Wellness is joined by Be Move Fitness - owned and operated by Scaringi's wife, Tara - and Sports Physical Therapy of New York with Senior Vice President Dr. Alanna Pokorski and physical therapist Chris Nentarz.
Scaringi closed on the facility last September and opened around January. A lot of work was done in the facility, turning the former Schaffer Kennels into what is now Synergy Nutrition & Wellness.
At the ribbon cutting, Scaringi was joined by Tara, partner Paul Wendt and Town of Wheatfield Supervisor Don MacSwan, who warmly welcomed the group to the community.
On his business, Scaringi said, "We use the term Synergy for the purpose of encompassing many like-minded modalities. Our personal business Synergy Nutrition & Wellness specializes in design, clinical whole food nutrition - so we help the body heal. We see everything from cancer, autism, auto immune conditions and, although we're not treating or diagnosing them, these are people that are looking for alternative avenues to the main stream medical model.
"It's our passion to teach how to not need drug surgeries and medications. Aside from the foundation of nutrition, we understood that health was more than just the absence of symptoms, but a complete and total well-being of physical, mental and spiritual health."
Inside the complex, there is a little bit of everything. There is a nutrition aspect, physical fitness aspect (Be Moved Fitness), what Scaringi called "one of the best physical therapy departments in New York," Sports PT; multiple massage therapists, mental health counselors and a group of midwives.
"The totality of what we have in this is a complete, holistic wellness center," Scaringi said.
Scaringi said the minute customers walk in the door, they can expect to be treated "like a million bucks."
"Our heart is poured into our patients. They are the backbone to why we do this. People deserve to have good health," he said.
Scaringi said he and his wife had hopes of starting a facility like this for years, and they were excited to find a home in Wheatfield.
"It was always a long-term goal that me and my wife had," he said. "Never did we think this reality would've happened now. So a little over a year ago, she started looking for somewhere to do a yoga studio and there was space available in this location. When she came in, the previous owner presented an opportunity to acquire the location. So, we kind of had the ability to say, 'Wait a second, we can make this dream a reality right away.' It went from renting a yoga studio to creating this complete collaboration."
Tara said, "It very quickly morphed into asking lots of people to be involved and if they'd want to join us if we were to acquire the building and open a wellness facility. So, we really had everyone lined up before we even bought the building and it panned out amazing."
Tara's Be Moved Fitness studio is in the back of the facility and offers different style of strength, cycling and yoga classes. She added the group is community orientated and will go on hikes and other fun adventures around the area.
She added, "We are a very friendly environment. It's like going to someone's house to work out. We're a community, everybody supports each other - a lot different than walking into a commercial gym."
Sports PT lives up to its name, providing outpatient orthopedic physical therapy services to those in need.
Nentarz said, "We offer care for all types of athletes and non-athletes (for) chronic pain, acute pain. We saw this as a great opportunity to engage with the rest of the community inside the building to help magnify the experience that people are getting."
Pokorski added that customers can expect nothing but the best from Sports PT.
"They can expect a high quality experience from customer service; a very thorough evaluation; evidence based treatment, as well as the ability to really focus on function goals," Pokorski said.
