Don't let your eyes fool you! The History Center's September "Family Night" is all about optical illusions.
History Center volunteer and retired science teacher Jean Weisbeck will discuss optical illusions and why one's eyes play tricks. Learn through fun exercises what causes optical illusions. Weisbeck will demonstrate homemade, early 19th century toys that used animation to create optical illusions. Afterword, participants can make their own animations to bring home.
The History Center's "Family Night" will take place at the Niagara History Center (215 Niagara St., Lockport) on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The program is from 6-6:30 p.m., and will be followed by an activity.
Admission to "Family Night" is free. An optional pizza supper begins at 5:30 p.m. for a nominal donation, followed by the program.
"Family Nights" are open to all, regardless of where you residency. They are a series of free-admission monthly programs and activities specifically designed for families with children ages 5 and up, but adults are welcome, too. Each night has a theme based upon history that happened right here in Niagara County, expressed through activities all ages can share and enjoy.
Reservations are required. Call the History Center at 716-434-7433.
