The volunteers of Bond Lake Park will hold their annual BugFest on Sunday, Aug. 19, at Bond Lake Park. Everyone is invited to join from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Bond Lake Nature Center on Lower Mountain Road in the Town of Lewiston.
The event will include bug displays, books and activities. Get an up-close view of insects and insect life, and understand the benefits of having insects in the world. Examine pinned insects up-close with lenses and a microscope, and touch some insects, too.
Weather permitting, a bug walk is planned for 1 p.m. through the grasses and shrubs immediately surrounding the Bond Lake Park Nature Center. During the walk, find and identify as many insects as possible. If you have a special "bug jar" of your own, bring it. All collected insects will be released back into the park at the end of the walk.
This free event is rain or shine. For more information, visit www.freewebs.com/bondlake or email [email protected].
The Friends of Bond Lake Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the beauty of the park and to educating the public about the local, natural environment. The committee maintains the Bond Lake Park Nature Center and holds public events throughout the year.
