Training to begin June 10
Oakwood Cemetery is seeking volunteer guides for its upcoming season of historic tours. "Daredevils of Niagara" is an hour-long walking tour through historic Oakwood Cemetery. It explores the stories behind the sensational headlines of eight of Niagara Falls' most famous risk-takers, including Annie Edson Taylor and Matthew Webb.
Candidates should have a passion for history. Free tour guide training will take place from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Sundays, June 10-24, at Oakwood House at Oakwood Cemetery, 763 Portage Road, Niagara Falls.
No previous tour guide experience is necessary.
Incorporated in 1852, Oakwood Cemetery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. It is the largest remaining built resource in the City of Niagara Falls dating to the pre-Civil War era. Learn more at oakwoodniagara.com.
