Presentations by a popular Niagara Falls pastor and a member of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center stroke care team will highlight the hospital's 11th annual Black History Celebration. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in the Memorial Medical Center Auditorium, 621 10th St.
The Rev. Craig Pridgen, senior pastor at True Bethel Baptist Church, Niagara Falls, and a senior business and planning analyst at M&T Bank, will be the keynote speaker during a luncheon program beginning at 11:30 a.m. Pridgen, whose extensive community involvement has included service to churches and civic organizations in Erie and Niagara counties, is a member of the medical center's board of directors.
The luncheon will be preceded by healthy heart screenings and interactive displays beginning at 10 a.m., and by a 10:30 a.m. presentation titled "The Heart of Black History" by Alicia Scott, D.N.P., N.P.C. Scott is Memorial's stroke care coordinator and a member of the medical center's hospitalist staff.
The luncheon celebration will include special community service recognition to Elder Vanessa Scott, founder and director of God's Woman Vanessa Scott Outreach Ministries.
Musical selections will be performed by students from Niagara Street Elementary School. A musical tribute will be performed by Deacon Bruce Myles.
