State grant will help expand chemical dependency treatment services
Mount St. Mary's Hospital held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to announce it is the recipient of an $825,200 grant from the New York State Health Care Facility Transformation Program. Funding will support the expansion of the Lewiston hospital's Clearview treatment services, a confidential, inpatient rehabilitation program dedicated to the holistic care of people whose lives have been affected by drugs and/or alcohol.
The grant will be used to expand Clearview's inpatient unit from 20 to 30 beds, and provide additional services to treat opioid addiction and other chemical dependency issues in the community. Initial construction is underway, with the project expected to be completed within a few weeks.
Clearview is located on the hospital's fourth floor.
In addition to the new patient rooms, the expansion project will feature upgrades to other areas of the hospital inpatient unit, including the dining room, lounge, gym and activity rooms, to create a more healing environment for patients and their families.
Both New York State Sen. Robert Ortt and New York State Assemblyman Angelo Morinello were on hand to mark the occasion.
