NYS Parks to host Paddle Fest

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will host the "Wear it On the Water" Paddle Fest, highlighting the growing sport of kayaking.
The event, which is co-sponsored by State Parks, The American Canoe Association and Seabirds International, will take place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park. The day will include demonstrations on kayak safety, paddling classes, information booths, kid's crafts and a life jacket flash mob.
The full schedule is as follows:
•One-hour smart start paddling courses at 11 am, 1 and 3 p.m. Please note: Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. Call 716-282-5154 to register.
•Life jacket flash mob (please bring your own life jacket) at 12:15 p.m.
•Wet exits and recovery demonstration at 2:15 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, however, a vehicle entry fee of $7 will apply.
