The Lewiston Event Center was packed to its rafters on Saturday night, as the community came out to support the annual Home Assistance Referral Team at a celebrity bartending fundraiser.
WKBW-TV Channel 7 news anchor Keith Radford and WGRZ-TV Channel 2 news anchor Maryalice Demler led the volunteer brigade, welcoming guests and introducing the event's headline musical act, the Summer of '69 All-Star Band. They were joined by former TV personality Barry Lillis; four-term Village of Lewiston Mayor Richard Soluri; current Village of Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano and his wife, Jeanette; TV host and chef Lori Caso; the Rev. Joseph Levesque, C.M., former president of Niagara University; and many local restaurant bartenders, business owners and community leaders.
The annual appeal is one of HART's biggest events.
Lewiston Music students, led by Lauren Eger, above, warmed up the crowd. Some attendees took a chance on raffle items, while others bowled, snacked and tried their hand at simulated games.
The Lewiston-based, interfaith HART is a not-for-profit organization that helps provide the elderly and infirm with assistance, allowing people to remain independent in their homes.
