Lewiston-Porter District Art Show at NACC

The 2017 Lewiston-Porter District Art Show opened Saturday, March 25, at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, with a reception for the many participating Lewiston-Porter student artists.

At the event, the following artists were recognized by the Lewiston-Porter Art Department

•High School: Best in Drawing - Grace Barner; Best in Painting - Gianna Lopez; Best in Printmaking - Lauren Templin; Best in Ceramics - Quinn Dammann; Best in Sculpture - Nina Baldassara; Best in Mixed Media - Carly Baringer; Best in Digital Photography - Sierra Lederhouse; Best in Digital Imaging - Uma Samudrala; and Best of Show - Bailey Hoplight.

•Middle School: Best in Painting, Seventh Grade - Nate Rhoads; Best in Painting Eighth Grade - Justin Pavan; Best in Drawing - Taylor Phelps; Best in Ceramics - Alyssa Lannon; Best in Computer Design - Gracie Auer; Best in Printmaking - Rhiannon Furey; and Best of Show - Justin Currie

The awards were juried by the art department and retired art teacher Terri Savory.

The art show poster art was created by Jillian Donovan.

The art department also inducted 34 students from the Class of 2017 into the National Art Honor Society. The inducted students each completed five art courses, with an overall B+ average in studio art class and an A average in all other art classes.

Lew-Port NAHS members for 2016-17 include: Nina Baldassara, Christine Barr, Angela Barraclough, Bryn Battey, Loralie Bequpre-Levesque, Mountain Carroll, Mia DiPasquale, Megan Flanagan, Courtney Gunderson, Jenna Havens, Mackenzie Hoplight, Vanessa Horton, Anna Kromer, Madison Lohr, Gianna Lopez, Savannah Nashwinter, Kathleen Pearson, Madelyne Potenza, Mikaela Prygon, Nicolette Radomski, Tyler Reagan, Madison Reynolds, Olivia Rizzo, Brittany Rosso, Mari Salada, Samudrala Umaporn, Jeremy Saunders, Julia Skowronski, Isabella Susino, Calista Tanguay, Kyle Templin, Megan Tweed, Katelin White, and Kali Woodley.

The District Art Show continues at the NACC through Sunday, April 23, with artwork in all mediums by artists from pre-K through high school. The community is encouraged to visit the exhibit and enjoy the talent of Lewiston-Porter students.
